IS THE PDC25 WATERPROOF?

The PDC25 is designed to be dust and weather proof. Normal use, including river crossings and light engine washing, will not pose any problem. Direct high-pressure washing may cause water damage and is not covered under warranty.

WHY DO THE POSITIVE CABLES FROM THE BATTERIES NEED TO BE FUSED?

High-capacity batteries can produce large amounts of power and may melt cable insulation or cause fire in the event of a short circuit. Each positive (+) cable must be protected by a fuse located close to the battery.

IS THE CHARGER SAFE TO USE WITH MODERN ‘ELECTRONIC’ VEHICLES?

Yes. The PDC25 is designed for use with all vehicles, including those with EFI and computer-managed systems. Its electronics ensure complete safety for both the user and the vehicle.

HOW DO I KNOW IF THE BATTERY IS CHARGED?

When the Charging LED is solid green and the selected battery type LED is solid blue, the auxiliary battery is fully charged (refer to page 12).

I HAVE CONNECTED THE CHARGER PROPERLY BUT THE INPUT LED DOES NOT COME ON.

Check that the correct cable size has been used. The PDC25 will operate from an input source as low as 9V, but undersized cables can cause voltage drop below 9V during start-up. Refer to the Installation – Wiring section for recommended cable sizes.

I HAVE CONNECTED THE CHARGER PROPERLY BUT THE OUTPUT LED DOES NOT COME ON.

If the auxiliary battery is extremely discharged (below 5V), the PDC25 may not activate. Use booster cables to supply more than 5V from a second battery. Once the charger begins charging, the booster cables can be removed.

WHY DOES THE FULLY CHARGED LED COME ON STRAIGHT AWAY?

Possible reasons include:
1. The battery is already fully charged.
2. The battery has taken a surface charge.
3. The battery has a faulty cell.

WHAT IS SURFACE CHARGE?

Batteries left unused or discharged for long periods can build resistance to recharging. When first connected, these batteries may take a surface charge, causing the Fully Charged LED to illuminate prematurely. The battery may begin accepting charge after several hours, but many batteries in this condition may not recover.

WHAT IS A FAULTY CELL?

A 12V battery contains six cells, and one faulty cell is enough to render the battery unusable. If the battery still accepts charge after twelve hours, test each cell with a hydrometer. A reading lower than the others indicates a faulty cell, and the battery should be replaced.

WHY IS THERE NO OUTPUT AT THE CHARGER'S TERMINALS?

The PDC25 includes short-circuit protection and will only output power when connected properly to a battery. To confirm operation, connect the charger to a flat battery and measure battery voltage while charging. If voltage is increasing (within specified limits), the charger is functioning correctly.
