WHY DOES THE INVERTER TURN ITSELF OFF?

If the inverter’s audible alarm sounds and a fault LED illuminates, this indicates a fault or error and the inverter may turn off. This is most commonly caused by an appliance drawing too much power (overloading), low battery voltage, or voltage drop due to insufficient cable size or poor connections (refer to ‘Understanding your Inverter’ tables, page 7).

THE INVERTER WILL NOT RUN MY APPLIANCE EVEN THOUGH THE APPLIANCE DRAWS LESS POWER (WATTS) THAN THE SIZE OF THE INVERTER

Electrical appliances fall into three categories based on how they draw current: resistive, inductive, and capacitive loads. Some appliances may draw a combination of these.

Resistive Loads
These include appliances such as incandescent lights, which draw constant power. A 100 W light will consistently draw approximately 100 W. These are the easiest loads for an inverter to run.

Inductive Loads
These include appliances with electric motors, such as fridges, air compressors, pumps, power tools, and fluorescent lights. They require a high surge current when starting (up to 10× their running power). For example, an 80 W fridge may require a 600–1000 W inverter to start.

Capacitive Loads
Many TVs and electronic appliances require a surge to charge internal capacitors when first turned on, especially if unused for several days. Resetting the inverter a couple of times may allow these appliances to operate.

Some large appliances—such as big refrigerators, air conditioners, and pump-driven systems—have extremely high startup currents and are not suitable for inverter use. These should be powered by an engine-driven generator.

WHY DOES IT DAMAGE THE INVERTER IF THE BATTERY LEADS ARE REVERSE-CONNECTED?

Accidentally connecting the inverter to the battery in reverse polarity causes a large current surge that will blow the protection fuse and may damage internal electronic components. Always double-check battery polarity before connecting.

HOW DO I CHECK OR CHANGE THE FUSES?

Pro-Wave inverters contain internal fuses that must only be checked or replaced by a qualified electrical appliance repairer.
Important: Disconnect the DC supply before any repair, then switch the inverter ON to discharge internal capacitors.

WHY DOES THE FAN ONLY OPERATE SOMETIMES?

These inverters use a temperature-controlled automatic cooling fan that activates only when needed, allowing quiet operation most of the time.

CAN I RUN LAPTOP COMPUTERS AND OTHER SENSITIVE ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES?

Yes. The pure sine wave output is suitable for medical equipment and sensitive electronics, allowing clean operation of laptops, gaming consoles, TVs, and fluorescent lighting.
